Acro Jam Wednesdays - Sender One Climbing

Words by Candice Lai

Two years ago, it was just a couple of us on our own trying to follow acro yoga videos on YouTube. Now, we've grown into an awesome community of acro enthusiasts here at Sender One. It is so exciting to see our members getting involved, and great to see our Acro Jam Sessions growing every week!

Join us Wednesday nights at 8 pm in the yoga room. All levels are welcome!

AcroYoga is a physical practice which combines yoga and acrobatics. Also referred to as partner yoga.

Why do AcroYoga?
In addition to the exercise and strength building aspects of AcroYoga, the partner balancing can improve concentration and the massage elements can provide stress relief. It's also a great way to bond and build trust with your climbing partners!

Facts you should know if you've never tried Acro:
Anyone can do it!!  Don't feel intimidated by all the fancy moves you see. There are poses of varying levels which makes it accessible to anyone regardless of physical condition.

Although flexibility definitely helps, you don't need to be flexible to do AcroYoga. In fact, doing AcroYoga will improve your flexibility over time.

There are three primary roles in AcroYoga- Base, Flyer, and Spotter.  AcroYoga involves vigorous poses and movements that may lead to more injuries so its very important to have a spotter.

Someone smaller can base someone larger.  Bone stacking allows us to take advantage of the human bone structure to hold poses while relying less on muscle power.

Come and try it for yourself!
