Events Coordinator

Sender One is seeking a self-starter to be the Events Coordinator at its LAX location. The Events Coordinator, among other things, provides the first and most important interaction guests have when deciding to book an event at Sender One.

As the LAX Event Coordinator, on a typical day you will:

  • Answer questions about events and parties from guests and Sender One staff through face-to-face interaction, phone calls, and emails;
  • Book events and process deposit payments;
  • Manage event supplies inventory and order as needed;
  • Schedule staff to work upcoming events;
  • Report the progress of projects, events leads, scheduling, and concerns to the Events Manager;
  • Train staff members on policies and offerings of Sender One events.

Facilities/Maintenance Staff

Sender One is seeking a qualified Facilities/Maintenance Staff to join our dynamic team!  We are a highly motivated crew who love being  surrounded by all things climbing and sharing that love and appreciation through what we give back to our community of climbers.

This could be a job for you, if you are someone who has:

  • A passion for working with your hands

  • A basic understanding of commercial construction methods and procedures

  • Climbing proficiency (Sender One lead climbing certification preferred)

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a physically demanding setting

  • The ability to solve problems, take initiative, and think fast on your feet

  • An appreciation for setting your own deadlines and the willingness to be held to them

  • Great organizational skills and an  attention to detail

  • The strength to lift 30 or more lbs occasionally, up to 30 lbs regularly.

As a Facilities/Maintenance Staff, on a typical day, you may:

  • Patch or repair a vinyl tear in the bouldering floor

  • Replace worn top-ropes in the sport climbing area

  • Touch up paint imperfections in various locations

  • Repair broken benches, tables, drywall etc.

  • Replace light bulbs at height

  • Fix leaky bathroom fixtures

  • Order replacement first aid and other general facility supplies

  • Work alongside trade professionals and rewire an electrical outlet

  • Be the point of contact for outside vendors/contractors

  • Maintain and track a preventative maintenance schedule

  • Conduct regular facility inspections

Your time commitment to Sender One:

  • A minimum of three days per week OR up to 30 hours; MondayFriday

  • Travel and work at both Sender One locations, Santa Ana (SNA) and Los Angeles (LAX), if needed

Weekend Party Staff

Sender One is seeking high-energy individuals who excel at encouraging our youngest climbers to try new things. Our Sender City Weekend Party Staff will help introduce children to climbing as well as facilitate a stress free environment for our party hosts.

As a Weekend Party Staff member, on a typical day you will:

  • Connect to guests with a big smile and positive energy;
  • Lead groups of children through icebreaking and team building activities;
  • Guide participants through interactive climbing challenges in Sender City;
  • Manage the inherent risks involved with climbing as guests;
  • Instruct guests on the competent and acceptable use of our equipment and facilities;
  • Take guests on orientation tours and provide information on our offerings;
  • Determine the offering best suited to a guest and get them doing it;
  • Participate in a daily huddle with three to six other front line staff;
  • Inspire participants to attempt and complete new challenges they did not believe they could.

Youth Program Team Coach

Sender One is passionate about educating children and teenagers about climbing! We are seeking a Youth Programs Coach who can manage and connect with youth of all ages, foster enthusiasm, and guide young people to reach their full potential. A Coach should be an individual who can both inspire the youth climbers and relate easily with their parents. Enthusiasm and passion are a must, as well an infectious desire to discover new heights, and connect with the community of climbers!

As a Youth Programs Coach, on a typical day, you may:

  • Instruct and inspire groups of six to twelve kids, ages 6-17, on techniques in Sender One’s training curriculum;
  • Empathize with and provide excellent service to both parents and their children;
  • Adapt and modify coaching techniques when needed to keep your group engaged or address the needs of a particular athlete;
  • Support, guide, positively reinforce, and encourage all Youth Program participants;
  • Help to improve the Youth Program and its offerings, both recreational and competitive.

This could be a good job for you if you are someone who:

 

  • Has experience working with youth, ages 6-17, professionally, as a coach or in camps;

Climbing Team Head Coach

Sender One is seeking a Climbing Team Head Coach to lead our youth climbers and their coaches. A Head Coach should be an experienced climber who can both inspire the youth climbers and  effectively communicate with their parents. Enthusiasm and passion are a must, as well creativity to work with needs of each of our climbers to help them discover new height and reach their full potential.

As the Head Coach of Team Sender One, your responsibilities and duties will be to:

  • Develop and refine a progressive and age-appropriate training curriculum for a competitive youth team of 6-12 athletes;
  • Lead both youth participants and coaches through weekly practices in a way that emphasizes fun, fosters a love of climbing, and supports each team member’s personal development and growth;
  • Providing exemplary customer service to both the parents and kids who participate by empathizing with their viewpoints;
  • Adapt coaching techniques and curriculum based on the needs of the individual students;
  • Offer support, guidance, positive reinforcement, and encouragement to all participants during practices and competitions;
  • Coordinate team community events such as climbing trips and parent meetings;
  • Regularly check in with the coaches and families to learn from their input and facilitate continual improvement of the team.

Essential Setting Skills:

  • Basic understanding of commercial setting methods and ideology
  • Creativity and experimentation in route setting
