This is not your average competition! Points will be based on two categories: your red-point climbing skills & your participation in various fun activities.

    Red Point Bouldering Format:

    • Boulders will not be set for a 4-point start. You must start at or below the tag.
    • Each attempt shall be recorded, and there is a limit on the number of attempts.
    • Attempts must always begin at the start holds. No projecting from the middle.
    • Scoring values will be assigned to each boulder based on difficulty.
    • Only the top 5 boulders completed will be considered for scoring.
    • For a full list of rules on REDPOINT please click HERE

    Dyno Comp:

    • While our setters put the finishing touches on the Finals climb(s) we will be hosting a Dyno Comp to keep the vibes going.
    • The Dyno comp will be its own independent comp, and scored separately from the red point boulders.

    Finals:

    • Finals will be a little different this year! Each category will send its top 4 competitors to compete in Finals.
    • The Finals climb(s) will feature a progressive point structure, meaning the farther you make it in the climb, the more points you will be awarded.
    • Climbers in Finals are competing for cold, hard cash!

    Activities:

    • We will have 4 optional activities for you to participate in throughout the red point round.
      • Tarzan Swing
      • Crate Stacking
      • King Swing
      • Speed Wall
    • Activities have two point thresholds: 25 pts for participating, 50pts for completing the challenge.

    Arrival

    • Check-in begins at 11AM
    • Late arrivals are ok, but please note the red point round ends promptly at 3PM, regardless of arrival time.
    • Climbers who want to warm-up will be allowed to do so on non-competition climbs (i.e. the upstairs boulders)

    Score Cards

    • After checking in at the Front Desk you will be directed to a table to receive your score card, raffle ticket and shirt
    • Put your name and date of birth on your Score Card
    • Turn your scorecard in at the designated location when you are done competing or at the conclusion of the redpoint round (whichever comes first)

    Witnesses

    • REDPOINT : Must have a witness signature for completed climbs
    • Please be honest with your scores! We are watching you and have a very specific set of skills. (insert Liam Neeson .gif here)

    Activities

    • Activities will be worth points! While not required, we highly recommend participating in the activities for an extra edge (read: extra points) over your fellow competitors.
    • See scoring section for a list of all activities.

      • How to decide your handicap:
        • A handicap is defined by the hardest grade you can climb in one session after at least 3-5 attempts.
        • A handicap is NOT a v-grade you can flash.
        • Think of this number as a climb you'd project AND send in one session; not necessarily a climb you can flash but not one you'd consider a long-term project.

    FREE AGENTS AKA SOLO CLIMBERS:
For online registration, please be sure you are registering under the "Free Agent" event slot. We will help assign you a team, so that you are solo no more!

    LOG YOUR SCORES:
Paper scoresheets are available during Bouldering League climbing days at the front desk. Track your climbs on the paper but don't forget to log your scores online! The paper scoresheets can be turned into the box at the front desk. These are a backup in case of any discrepancies.

    SCORE STANDINGS:

Scores are posted at the end of each week in the facility and on the Sender One LAX Instagram under our "League" Highlight.
    CHECK STANDINGS

    SCORING:
    • Scoring is normalized by your handicap (which is decided by you), which may be adjusted during the competition.
      •  Example: A climber with a V2 handicap climbing a V2 graded problem will receive the same amount of points as a V10 climber climbing a V10 graded problem.
    • Handicap Adjustment: As you progress and improve throughout the competition, your handicap may be increased accordingly.
      • Example: A climber with a V2 handicap sends a V4 problem, or multiple V3s, their handicap will likely be bumped up to V3.
    • Flashing will earn you extra points, and climbing at your handicap will also give you a higher score.
Notice: route grades will not be presented during climbing nights and the scoring is weighted progressively more each week. How mysterious!

    Competitors Will Get:
    • A Bouldering League shirt
    • Entry in a raffle on finals night for a chance to win sweet swag
    • Participate in 4 weeks of Bouldering League!
    • Compete to win the title of Bouldering League champion and a coveted Bouldering League trophy!

Follow our Instagram Page: SenderOne_LAX for photos, updates, and scores.

    How can I sign-up?
Either online or at the LAX Front Desk.
    How much does it cost?
$100/team ($25/person) during early bird registration
    $116/team ($29/person) for regular registration
How many people to a team?
Four. The top 3 teammates' scores are recorded each week.
    What if I don’t have a team?
You may sign up as a free agent. We will assign you a team!
Do I need to climb on a specific day/night each week?
Weeks 1-3 run Tuesday at 5pm until closing on Monday. Teams do not have to stick to climbing on the same night each week. You are welcome to climb on any day and don’t have to compete on the same day as your team. Week 4 (finals), all teams will compete on the same night, Wednesday 11/12, starting at 5:00p.
Can I climb on the new Bouldering League problems multiple sessions before submitting my score?
Absolutely not! The first session you climb on the routes, you must submit a scorecard! If you are caught submitting scores after trying the problems multiple days, your scores will not count that week!
    Must I attend every week?
No, but without you competing each week, your team will suffer.
    Can my team have substitutes?
    Nope! No substitutes, sorry.
    How does the scoring work?
Scoring is normalized by your handicap, which may be adjusted during the competition.  You can read more about scoring on the 'Rules & Scoring' Tab on this webpage!
Wait, what is a handicap and how do I know what mine is?
    • A handicap is defined by the hardest grade you can climb in one session after at least 3-5 attempts.
    • A handicap is NOT a v-grade you can flash.
    • Think of this number as a climb you'd project AND send in one session; not necessarily a climb you can flash but not one you'd consider a long-term project.
Do the first week's scores count?
Yes. All weeks of Bouldering League will count toward your score.
Will there be 5 climbing days during finals week?
NO. Finals week is actually just ONE night! Climbers will climb Wednesday 11/12 5:00pm-9:00pm. The raffle and winners announcement will begin at 9:30p.
I'm not a member, can I participate in Bouldering League?
Bouldering League is open to members, punch holders and guests! Guests can climb on one Bouldering League day each week for a discounted day pass rate of only $24.

EXTRA STUFF YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW

    • Each participant will receive a t-shirt! The T-shirt are unisex.
    • Prizes are given out on finals night for best team name! Please keep names to an appropriate standard.
    • Bouldering League is a fun, inclusive community event! It's our chance to climb together in a team setting, while seeing progress in climbing each week and supporting others!
    • Team costumes during Finals are highly encouraged.
    • New Climbers: Check out this blog post on climbing terms to help catch you up to speed with the lingo!

    RULES:

    • Good sportsmanship is key. We encourage camaraderie between teammates and other competitors!
    • The first session that you climb the problems each week, you must submit your online scores! Attempts from later climbing sessions will not count!
    • Climb any problem in the week's new bouldering set (the tags will not have a grade and will say Bouldering League with a number). Mark down the climbs you have completed, and mark whether it was a flash or not.
    • A climber's top 5 climbs will be scored and the top 3 teammates' scores will be recorded for that week.
    • Go to this link to submit scores after your session. All scores must be in for weeks 1-3 by Monday evening. You can use your phone to enter scores.
    • Week 4 is Finals. All competitors will climb Wednesday 11/12 between 5:00p & 9:00p. Awards will be announced on Tuesday evening in person starting at 9:30p.
    • Paper score sheets are one per person / per week. Please drop your paper score sheet at the front desk before leaving. Remember to log your climbs before! Paper sheets are just used as backup.
    • No SANDBAGGING. Set your honest handicap.
    • Individuals can climb on any league day. This means that you may climb with your team each week but it is not required.
    • No substitutes allowed.
    • We will be requiring a witness to initial your climbs. Please be honest with your scores!
    • Try hard!

California-based climbing gyms are joining forces this year to pilot a new youth bouldering series. The competition structure consists of qualifying competitions in the South, culminating in a Championship event for the season. Athletes must participate in at least two of these to move on to the championship.

Early Bird (Up to day before competition) - $75
    Late Registration - $100
    Categories:
    Birth year + gender (Male/Female/Non-Binary)
Age: Please sign up for the session that reflects the age of the competitor on September 13th, 2025.
    10 boulders by category
(for ex. 12 year old girls will be competing with other 12 year old girls)

Comp day will run 9am - 5:30pm. Climbing sessions will depend on category.

The Pacific Climbing Series season will be a hybrid modified redpoint format where athletes will be tested across a diverse spread of climbing styles.   Aspects of this new format might be refined over the course of the season with input from athletes, parents, coaches, and route setters.

We will be beginning the season with a few unique features to ensure athletes of all abilities have a high value experience for gaining more comp experience while also challenging everyone in a way that matches experience and ability.

A few features that will be included are predefined climbing styles that will be represented at the comps so that athletes know what to train for as well as additional bonus attempts per boulder that simulate the pressures of onsite formats.

At registration we are asking  a few additional questions during registration to gather information about each athlete to explore the ability to categorize based on climbing experience and other characteristics so that athletes can gauge performance across a range of competitor fields.

Scoring will be a two zone point system with additional bonus scoring for flashing and repeating boulders

4 boulders will be defined as championship boulders typical of what one might find at a USAC Regional or Divisional Championship

6 boulders will be set as distinct “tests” that allow athletes to learn and demonstrate abilities in a diverse array of climbing styles.
