From the fundamentals of rope & lead climbing to more advanced climbing techniques, we cover everything that you need to know to start ascending to new heights. Intro to Climbing

From basic belays to the more advanced lead climbing, rope skills are essential for safe and effective rock climbing sessions. All of our rope climbing classes will prepare you with the rope skills that you need so you can climb with confidence. If you have any questions about any of our rope skills classes and if they’re right for you, just contact us and we’ll be more than happy to help you!

Cost: Free for members/$39 non-members
Duration: 1 hour
Prerequisites: None
Age requirement:  14 years of age and over
Includes: Rental equipment and day pass

Intro to Lead Climbing

Are you a top rope climber that’s ready to try something a little more challenging and exhilarating? Then it may be time that you try out lead climbing! This four hour course split between two days teaches you the basics of lead climbing and belaying. Top rope climbing experience is required to take this course.

Cost: $99 for members/ $119 non-members
Duration: 2 Days, meeting once per week for two hours
Prerequisites:  Ability to onsight 5.10b or V1, Top rope belay card
Age requirement:  14 years of age and over
Includes: Rental equipment and day pass

Please note:  This class requires a minimum of two participants to run.  Classes will be rescheduled if only one participant signs up.

Advanced Lead Climbing

Intro to Climbing II

This class will introduce you to rudimentary techniques that will help you climb smarter–and more efficiently–on the wall. This is the next step in building your climbing confidence after learning how to belay. Also, the class can serve as an alternative to Sender One’s belay test; so long as participants display the skills taught in Intro to Climbing I, their instructor may classify them as “Belay Certified” at this class’s conclusion.

Cost: Free for members/$39 non-members
Duration: 1 hour
Prerequisites: Intro to Climbing I
Age requirement:  14 years of age and over
Includes: Rental equipment and day pass

Accelerated Intro to Lead Climbing

This is a slightly condensed version of our Intro to Lead class, giving you everything that you need to know about lead climbing in one, 4 hour session; perfect for those who want to get started with lead climbing right away! Our professional climbing instructors will teach you how to lead climb and belay. Top rope climbing experience is required for this accelerated course

Cost: $99 for members/ $119 non-members
Duration: 4 hours
Prerequisites: Ability to onsight 5.10b or V1, Top rope belay card, 6 months climbing experience
Age requirement:  14 years of age and over
Includes: Rental equipment and day pass

Workshops

Cleaning & Rappelling Workshop

Come join Ektos for an interactive workshop on cleaning and rappelling! Learn how to properly rappel and clean gear after a day at the crag. Ektos Unlimited is an accredited guiding service that specializes in outdoor education.

Cost: $75 for members, $105 for non-members
Duration: 2 hours
Age requirement:  14 years of age and over

movement and technique

Climbing is for everyone, and a common misconception is that you need to have a strong upper body to be a great climbing. While strength is important, proper technique and movement is an even more crucial element when it comes to conquering difficult routes and reaching new heights!

Foundations I: Intro to Movement and Technique

Ever wonder how climbers make it look so easy? Find out in this three part series, meeting once per week for two hours. Lay the foundation for smooth and efficient climbing and you learn to push instead of pull your way up the wall.

Cost: $99 members/ $149 non-members
Duration: Three 2-hour sessions
Prerequisites: Successful completion of a top rope belay check at Sender One
Age requirement:  14 years of age and over
Includes: Rental equipment and day pass

Crush Club

Calling all lady crushers! Come climb and train with other strong women alike!

Cost: Free with entry
Date: First Tuesday of every month
Time: 7pm

Crack Climbing

Learn tips and techniques about the art of crack climbing in an intensive course that covers everything from hand jams to tape gloves.

Cost: $35 members/ $40 non-members
Duration: Three 2-hour sessions
Prerequisites: Successful completion of a top rope belay check at Sender One
Age requirement:  14 years of age and over
Includes: Rental equipment and day pass

Better Beta

This eight week series focuses on one specific topic per week. From mental strategies to dynos, everything will covered! Sign up for one or multiple sessions.

Cost: $10 for members/ $15 non-members
Duration: 1 hour
Prerequisites: Top Rope belay card
Age requirement: 14yrs or older
Includes: Rental equipment

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR CLASSES

In the event that you need to cancel your reservation for a one of our rock climbing classes, you can transfer the paid class registration to an alternate date if you contact us here at Sender One Los Angeles at least 24 hours before the start date of the class. Refunds will not be given for cancellations, but you may be issued a credit for the amount paid that you can put towards other climbing classes with us.

HOW TO BOOK A CLIMBING CLASS AT SENDER ONE

After you’ve browsed through our available classes below and found one that you want to take, check the calendar for times and availability. All reservations for our climbing classes must be made 24 hours in advance in order to participate, and you make the reservation online here on our website. Just click the “Sign Up” button underneath the class you want to take, and you’ll be taken through our reservation portal. Before you know it, you’ll be at Sender One working with our professional rock climbing instructors to tackle new and exciting challenges!

Scariest moment: My first experience leading and cleaning a sport route outside. It was this climb in Auburn, CA at the limestone quarry.
Climbing pet peeve: People who litter. Also rude climbers that don't share the crag. It's for everyone to enjoy.
Pet peeves (in general): World Hunger, Global Warming, Deforestation, Corrupt Governments and crooked Corporations just to name a few.

Where do you like to climb? Right now I'm climbing in Holcomb every chance I get. The rock quality is great and the routes are some of the best around.
Favorite device to use for climbing: Petzle Connect Adjust
Scariest moment: Around when I first started climbing, I got to the top of a route and asked for a "take". My know got pulled through the hardpoint and came untied a bit. My buddy had to walk me through how to anchor directly in from the ground verbally. I untied my know and re-tied it, 60ft from the deck. Scary at the time.
Climbing pet peeve: People who lower off the anchors outside.
Pet peeves (in general): Animals dressed as humans! (Friends, anyone?)
Favorite guilty pleasure: Friends!
Hobby outside of climbing: My dog Loki! And books...
